Dattoli Cancer Center creates a unique treatment plan for each patient, there is a general protocol that we follow and adapt to each man’s needs. For patients with newly diagnosed prostate cancer (and not a recurrence following some other treatment), the protocol is in three parts. The first is several weeks of daily treatment called DART (Dynamic Adaptive RadioTherapy). These treatments are short – from check-in to check-out it is rarely more than 20 minutes. The treatment itself is similar to an X-ray and patients do not feel anything. In fact, they often enjoy playing golf, tennis, fishing, or walking the beach before or after their daily treatment.
Learn MoreAs the adoption of AI continues to accelerate, several challenges remain. To overcome these challenges, organizations need to reach digital maturity. That means developing robust governance and data maintenance processes. Moreover, they must implement modern software disciplines like Agile and DevOps. Future studies will examine potential markers of tumors, including a protein called MRE11, which plays a vital role in the cellular response to DNA damage induced by radiation. These findings could help doctors design strategies that preserve the bladder after radiation therapy. This will be especially useful for patients because removing the bladder can have […]
Multidisciplinary treatment is evolving from a series of isolated procedures to an integrated approach that combines radiation oncology, medical oncology, and allied health services. This interdisciplinary approach considers treatment options, establishes a treatment plan, and provides supportive care. As a result, radiation oncology centers are gaining more expertise in particular techniques and malignancies. They are […]
The main difference between real-time and off-line image-guided adaptive radiotherapy is that the latter relies on software to control radiation therapy. For example, real-time image-guided adaptive radiotherapy will require a more sophisticated model that will have stopping rules to pause treatment when the deviation from the treatment plan reaches a certain threshold. Aside from the […]
